Halldorson, who passed away in November 2015 at the age of 63, was known both for his success on the course as well as his mentorship and guidance of following generations of Canadian professional golfers striving to reach the PGA Tour. He was a two-time PGA Tour and seven-time Mackenzie Tour winner.
We also support Canadian golfers on the Mackenzie Tour throughout the season with the Player of the week award. The winner is awarded $2,500 at each tour stop throughout the season.
The Mackenzie Tour is a stepping stone for players from all over the world to make the PGA Tour.
There are 12 tournaments on the tour, kicking off in May with the Freedom 55 Financial Open in Vancouver. The season finishes in London, Ont., at the Freedom 55 Financial Championship. At every event on the Mackenzie Tour, a full field of 156 golfers will play Thursday and Friday and need to qualify to play Saturday and Sunday.
At the Championship, only the top 60 golfers are invited to play all 4 days.
