The Mackenzie Tour is Canada’s only professional golf tour and a stepping stone for players from all over the world who dream of reaching the PGA TOUR. The Freedom 55 Financial Championship will bring the top 60 players on the Mackenzie Tour Order of MeritOpens a new website in a new window to Highland Country Club to compete for Web.Com Tour status – one step away from reaching the PGA TOUR.
Recent Canadian PGA TOUR winner and Team FreedomOpens in a new window member Mackenzie Hughes played this event in 2015. Austin Connelly, who recently finished 14th at the British Open, played here just last year. In total, 10 past Mackenzie Tour players have gone on to earn PGA TOUR status since 2013, with three – Mac Hughes, Nick Taylor and Tony Finau – going on to win a PGA TOUR event.
Top Canadian players recognized at Championship
Players from all over the world compete on the Mackenzie Tour. But at the close of the Championship, we’ll present the Dan HalldorsonOpens a new website in a new window trophy along with a $25,000 prize to the Freedom 55 Financial Canadian Player of the Year – the top Canadian on the Mackenzie Tour Order of Merit at the end of the season.
We’ll also award the Freedom 55 Financial Canadian Player of the Week with $2,500.
Supporting Canadian communities
The Mackenzie Tour is committed to supporting the communities where tournaments are played. Since 2013, the Mackenzie Tour has raised over $2 million for charities across Canada.
The Freedom 55 Financial Championship’s charity beneficiary is the Thames Valley Children’s Centre (TVCC)Opens a new website in a new window of London, Ont. Since 2015, the championship has donated more than $110,000 to the TVCC, which helps support children and their families in London and surrounding areas.
